The Holy System Root Namespace

From now on, we’ll ignore the diverse physical locations of BCL functionality and start with the assumption all types can be found. The default configuration of references in a newly created .NET 4 project will suffice. In places where it does not (for instance, an assembly other than the ones referenced is needed), I mention this explicitly.

The framework’s core namespace is System. In this first section, we explore the root namespace, looking at some of the types and members we skipped over in the preceding chapters. This allows us to discuss some related concerns, such as dealing with formatting of particular data types and so on.
