When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Technical requirements
In order to let you immediately try the programs, we've set up a Docker image that has all the tools and libraries we'll need throughout the book. This is based on Ubuntu 19.04.
In order to set it up, follow these steps:
- Download and install Docker Engine from www.docker.com.
- Pull the image from Docker Hub by running the following command: docker pull kasperondocker/system_programming_cookbook:latest.
- The image should now be available. Type in the following command to view the image: docker images.
- You should have at least this image now: kasperondocker/system_programming_cookbook.
- Run the Docker image with an interactive shell, with the help of the following command: docker run -it --cap-add sys_ptrace kasperondocker/system_programming_cookbook:latest ...
