Computer Networking Fundamentals

Network security: Understanding network security.
OSI model: Understanding how device communication works across the network and the ports and protocols used.
TCP/IP model: Describing the differences between the models and their uses.
In this chapter we begin by discussing what computer networking is and the various types of networks. Next, we’ll discuss the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, including the ports and protocols that help packets traverse the network. Finally, we’ll take a quick look at the layers of the TCP/IP model and how they relate to the OSI model.
