A Formal Process with Less Than 8 Subnet Bits
Although it can be easy to see the patterns in Figure 19-7, it might not be as obvious exactly how to apply those concepts to find all the subnet IDs in every case. This section outlines a specific process to find all the subnet IDs.
To simplify the explanations, this section assumes that less than 8 subnet bits exist. Later, the section “Finding All Subnets with More Than 8 Subnet Bits,” describes the full process that can be used in all cases.
