Once Upon a Time There Was a Company Called Andiamo
In August 2002 Cisco Systems officially entered the storage networking business with the spin-in acquisition of Andiamo Systems. Andiamo means “Let’s go” in Italian, and Cisco entered the storage business by saying “Andiamo.” The MDS 9000 Multilayer Director switch family is composed of fabric and director-class Fibre Channel switches. These devices are capable of deploying highly available and scalable storage-area networks (SAN) for the most demanding data center environments.
