Chapter 11. Wireless Control System (WCS)

Basics of WCS

You know by now that WCS software is an optional part of the CUWN and that I'm an I.T. guy not a salesman, but if there's anything I actually do try to talk my wireless network clients into shelling out for it's some version of a WCS platform. This is because having it around just makes the life of anyone who must deal with the wireless network so much better!

For starters, the WCS communicates with WLCs via SNMP instead LWAPP. Even better, when you make changes on the WCS, they trickle down from it to your controllers, to your APs, all the way to your clients. And then there's that marvelous interface that has the look and feel of the WCS itself! The interface is laid out in a hierarchy, as shown in Figure 11.1.
