tion. Feedback provides information
that lets leaders know how their char-
acter measures up and how they are
progressing toward their character
development goals. For feedback to
be effective, however, senior leaders
first need to establish and communi-
cate to their subordinates clear expec-
tations regarding patterns of behavior;
when these expectations are not pro-
vided, it’s the responsibility of the
junior leaders to seek them out. Once

road map for character development,
leaders can have quarterly feedback
sessions with their bosses to gauge
their progress, reviewing specific
