I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Proactive Monitoring
Monitoring of the errors on each interface in your network will alert you to possible future problems. The error information for an interface can be obtained via several means. These can be Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) gathered data or the statistics made available by the hardware vendors through the user interface for the device. SNMP monitoring stations can be configured to record and report on changes in the pattern of collected data. For instance, increases in the Cyclical Redundancy Checksum (CRC) errors on an interface can trigger an alarm. Or, a decrease of the IP traffic on an interface can trigger an alarm.
