Motivation and Background

The main base for analysis and evaluation in natural sciences and environmental information is reliable, reproducible, and comparable data. The premise of any scientific procedure is that processes must be measured in order to be discussed, evaluated, and improved. Time ranges of natural and environmental processes, which mankind is aware of, span from ultrashort intervals to billions of years.
