After all the preparation described in the previous chapters has been completed, the onsite assessment can begin. An assessment sponsor’s kick-off meeting starts the assessment. Over the next five to ten days or more, the assessment team attends the organization’s presentations, conducts interviews, and consolidates information. At the end of each day of the assessment, the team meets to come to consensus about the data they have gathered and makes preliminary judgments about how the organization has or has not implemented relevant model practices.
