I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Summary
CI offers a lot of goodies to make coding easier and to make your websites more professional. This chapter looked at just five of them:
- The
texthelper provides useful functions to manipulate and convert strings. - The
datehelper allows you to convert between different date formats and also to cope with time zones. - The
Languageclass makes it easier to write multi-lingual websites, which respond to user preferences. Alas, you still have to do the translation! - The
Tableclass lets you output properly formed HTML tables, directly from a database query if you need to. - Automatically caching high-load dynamic pages provides a faster response.
