This chapter shows how to configure the CUPS server and includes several examples of typical server configurations.
The Basics
The CUPS scheduler consists of an IPP server (cupsd), a polling daemon (cups-polld), and a line printer daemon gateway (cups-lpd). These programs all work together to provide printing services to the client.
Configuration Files
The CUPS server (cupsd) reads several configuration files when it starts up. Normally these files are located under the /etc/cups
directory. Table 5.1 lists the configuration files and their purpose:
