Sales of digital still cameras were estimated to be equal to sales of traditional still cameras in 2003, but projections for 2004 call for digital still cameras to outsell traditional still cameras for the first time (see Figure 18.1) (Photo Marketing Association, 2004). As of March 2004, industry giant Eastman Kodak stopped selling their 35mm still cameras and their Advanced Photo Systems (APS) cameras in the U.S. market.
