Introduction

Having achieved ubiquity in many parts of industry and academia, Big Data now deserves greater attention in the field of communication technology, although the research so far on Big Data is more in the Information Technology (IT) field than in Communication. Big Data is a relatively new term and concept by some definitions, but a long-evolving term when viewed from a broader perspective.
