Planning competitions are used to harness the talents of several design teams at once in order to investigate possible solutions for a specific challenge, for example, for a site to be developed.1 These competitions are grounded in the tradition of architectural methods of knowledge production, which means that visual imagery and illustrations are the key mode for transmitting ideas and knowledge.2
