7.1 How to Solve Problems
In 1945, George Polya wrote a little book entitled How to Solve It: A New Aspect of Mathematical Method.1 Although this book was written more than 60 years ago, when computers were still experimental, it remains the classic description of the problem-solving process. The process is summarized in FIGURE 7.1.
