Can’t We All Get Along? Conflict in Relationships and Groups

If people spend enough time around each other, they should expect some disagreement, friction, or frustration to emerge. It is inevitable. However, when we maintain a perspective that Conflict is an Opportunity, we’ll find that by exploring conflict can lead to improved communication, trust, ideas, and decisions.

How can a leader approach entering into conflict for the pursuit of resolution? Typically, leaders lean toward one of two options: wishing the issue away through denial or avoidance or trying to win through manipulation or coercion. Neither produces much value.
