After presenting the findings and discussing the observations and recommendations, you will often need to cycle back to the agreement phase to revise or extend the original agreement. With agreement to move to the next steps, you may then want to focus on educating the client about the change process and the alternatives you are recommending. The client’s willingness to move forward, to take risks, and to invest his or her personal reputation and performance is influenced strongly by the strength of the partnership you have built. The client’s sense of confidence and competence to handle the risks and challenges of change contribute to that commitment.
