ACOUSTIC IMPEDANCE AND RESONANCE

The resistances and reactances of the system (including acoustic, mechanical and electrical effects) combine in the effective impedance looking back into the voice coil. This combination is best visualised by an equivalent circuit illustrated in Fig. 4.16. The efficiency of power transfer is dependent on the proportion of the impedance represented by RA, which represents actual acoustic power dissipated in overcoming air friction and in radiating the acoustic power.
