STAKEHOLDERS AND VOLUNTARY CODES OF CONDUCT

The growth of voluntary codes of conduct since the 1990s has involved a wide range of stakeholders. These stakeholders have different interests, leading to contrasting views of the purpose of codes and to conflict over their scope, coverage, substance and implementation. In this chapter, the major stakeholders and their interests will be identified and the implications for codes of conduct analysed.1
