In this chapter, our stories have protagonists who are more recognizable to those in the industry. In later stages of their careers—as you’ll see in subsequent chapters—these players grow at a faster rate than those in Chapter 2, “Finding a Focus.” But remember, at this stage, their careers were just beginning. They had not achieved legendary status—and there was no guarantee that they would!
Our next story concerns the Shahs, who started and still head up a successful hotel company that owns dozens of small to medium-sized motels in the eastern part of the United States. Their story is one that we examine at various points in this book. As we look at their entry into this ...
