Chapter 1 discussed the value of virtual prototypes in product development and scientific research. This chapter focuses on the ecosystem required to support this paradigm.

2.0 Introduction

Chapter 1 described the potential for virtual prototypes and digital surrogates to revolutionize product development and scientific research. Realizing this potential requires developing and operating a stable and secure computing ecosystem. Figure 2.1 and Table 2.1 describe the six major components of this ecosystem.
