5. Graphical Skinning

How many times have you seen a Flex application that looks like Figure 5-1? After seeing the same user interface time and again, it gets old, which is not the best way to present a professional Flex application. The most successful Flex applications out there don’t look or “feel” like Flex applications. For example, a Flex preloader is a dead give-away of a Flex application, whereas customizing it helps the application look unique. Attention to these types of details helps give an application the polished feel required for a truly engaging user experience. This detailed effect can be accomplished with skinning.
