When we started writing this book in December 2016, bitcoin was in the $700s, ether was in the $7s, and the aggregate network value of cryptoassets was just north of $10 billion. Over the ensuing months of writing we watched bitcoin push past $4,000, while ether crossed $400, and the aggregate network value of cryptoassets punched through $100 billion. Cryptoassets went from being esoteric dark web material to mainstream topics of conversation and enthusiasm.
