The final part of this book covers how other Information Management disciplines influence the design and development of data integration processes. These disciplines are so important and have such an influence on data integration development and operations that they merit focus on what they are, their importance, and their impact on data integration.

As stated in Chapter 2, “An Architecture for Data Integration,” data integration is simply a “layer” in the data warehouse reference architecture; it operates within the context of several other disciplines, as shown in Figure 13.1.
