Chapter 6. Case Studies

To gain a deeper understanding of best practices in the utilization of DV Systems, we conducted a series of interviews with various stakeholders from notable DV System users. Since one of the authors of this book is a former Starburst employee, we had the easiest access to use cases of DV technology in production that specifically use the Starburst product. However, we focus on issues in this chapter that are general to data virtualization use cases using any modern DV software solution. 

We conducted the semi-structured interviews with the same series of questions but with enough flexibility to focus on the specific scenarios and interesting points of view. These interviews included detailed discussions with Comcast, Novant Health, and Sanofi, among others, and the authors would like to thank the following for their contributions:
