The Four Attributes: Encrypt, Compress, Index, and Archive
Data or information falling into the wrong hands is the biggest worry for any corporation because such spillage can cause a lot of trouble from customers, local and federal governments, and hungry lawyers. Protect the data encryption or changing the format of data—without modifying the data itself—has become a necessity. Many operating systems allow files to be encrypted, compressed, indexed, and archived for various reasons, such as security, disk space, easy retrieval, and storage. When managed correctly, these four processes are important components of cybersecurity. In this chapter, we discuss each of these factors in detail.
