Explore Device Stage
One way to reduce gunk is to see if you can use one application to sync multiple devices. Windows 7 offers a feature that you may not be familiar with yet, called Device Stage, that can help in this regard (see Figure 12-1). Device Stage shows all devices you’ve connected, ever. The mobile devices that you currently have connected are darker than the rest (provided Windows has decided to play nicely with them). This makes it easy to review what’s available, what’s been previously installed, and what you may or may no longer need.
