Understand the Grant-Seeking Cycle

Every serious grant seeker, whether part-time volunteer or fulltime consultant, goes through the same basic cycle of activities. To use your time effectively you need to recognize the steps in the cycle and plan accordingly. In this chapter we'll describe those steps (see Figure 2.1). Because this book takes you through the complete cycle once, learning the steps also gives you a preview of where the book is going.
