When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
About the Author
A graduate of the Louisiana State University Robert S. Reich School of Landscape Architecture, Mark Smith is a practicing landscape architect with over four decades of professional practice focused on planning and design throughout the US. He is currently a Vice‐President and Managing Principal with a national multi‐disciplinary planning and design firm with offices located throughout the US.
In addition to everyday planning, design, marketing, and management duties, Mr. Smith has been engaged in design‐industry recruiting since 1990 and currently coordinates his firm's recruiting activities. In this capacity, he reviews hundreds of portfolios annually, interviews candidates, negotiates salaries, prepares offer letters, and manages on‐boarding activities for new employees. Throughout his career, he has guest‐lectured in many university‐level design programs on design, professional practice, portfolio design, and student preparation for the profession. Since 2000, he has organized numerous university‐level portfolio review sessions for students.
