9.1 Introduction
Up until now, we have been concerned with developing a theoretical foundation
for design in the functional domain, and have looked at a number of fairly general
features of functionality. Hopefully this has led you to the conviction that there is
such a thing as design in the functional domain, that it is possible to take design
decisions, based on a set of user requirements, before there is any consideration of
