One of the problems with learning linear algebra as a student is that the subject is taught out of context. It is not easy to show meaningful applications of linear algebra inside a linear algebra course. In fact linear algebra is the natural language in which to express many of the important ideas of differential equations. So it is appropriate here to bring the subject back to life for us so that we can use it. In the present section, we give a very quick treatment of some of the most basic ideas. Our discussion will not be complete, and we shall provide few proofs.
