When an object is photographed in front of a greenscreen the green light from the brightly lit green backing screen bounces around the set and contaminates the foreground object in a variety of ways. The edges of the target object become blended with the green backing. There may also be semi-transparent elements, such as smoke or wisps of hair. Any motion blur or out-of-focus elements will also have their colors mixed with the greenscreen. And then there is flare.
