INTERPRETING THE SCRIPT
We explored many tools for developing the dramatic potential of a screenplay in Chapter 8. But once major rewriting is done, script analysis becomes script interpretation as you prepare to make cinema from a literary blueprint. This requires a rather different analysis and preparation. New directors in particular nearly always under develop their scripts, a particular irony since it is their own work. Later in editing they discover all that lay latent and unused in the screenplay.
