After taking the time to type up your document text, the next phase is to make it all look nice—that’s where formatting comes into play. Formatting is the application of various commands to control the appearance of text in your document. Formatting includes controlling the font and size of your text, the position of it on the page, the color of the text, and much more. There are several default settings at play when you start any document in Word, including font, font size, and alignment. You can change any of these settings using Word’s formatting controls.
