Abstract
Aerial edge computing (AEC) is anticipated to play a major role in the Internet of Things post-5G/6G era. Line-of-sight communication lines for computer services and job offloading enable flexible deployment with AEC. This article provides a thorough overview of AEC technology. The satellite, unmanned aerial vehicles, and ground terminals make up the three layers of the AEC architecture, we first present. Second, we provide examples of AEC difficulties and give an overview of their recent research by AEC performance measures, such as operating cost, latency, and energy efficiency, to solve AEC challenges. Artificial intelligence (AI) and distributed optimization, two contemporary technologies utilized in AEC management, are also presented. In conclusion, a summary of the applications and open issues with AEC is provided.
