This chapter analyzes workflow number 1—Prescribe/eRx from two perspectives: processes and data elements. The top-down analysis is straightforward: Using the dataflow diagram (DFD) as the main tool, we isolate the Prescribe workflow from the higher-level diagram DFD 0 (see previous chapter) and decompose it into lower-level processes—DFD 1.
