Chapter 12

Dynamic production planning and inventory modeling

Abstract

In Chapter 7, we have seen how a linear program can be implemented for a static one-period production planning, while in this chapter we will be concerned with the planning of the production over a future interval of time, the planning horizon. The problem is to establish an optimal production plan for each subperiod of the planning horizon. This is the dynamic production planning. In effect, we have already shown some dynamic models applied to the production and inventory management in Part II in a continuous framework, and here we will see some other multiperiod production modeling applied instead with the linear programming. Due to the importance of this matter ...
