The list of open source licenses is rather long. The OpenEmbedded Build System provides the texts of 173 licenses used in its meta/files/common-licenses directory. The Open Source Initiative (OSI)¹ analyzes and reviews licenses and publishes a list of approved open source licenses with the goal to educate users, developers, businesses, and government agencies about open source licensing. For reference, the verbatim texts of four of the most common open source licenses are provided in this appendix.
