In order to support new managers, an organization must be clear regarding managerial or leadership expectations. (See Table 9.3.) What does leadership look like at this level in this organization? It is imperative to have clear criteria published for everyone to see. Some employees desire moving into managerial positions because they have an idyllic view of what being a manager involves. They talk about how much easier it is to be a manager, and have a common perception of having more control, less stress, more pay, and others to do all of the work for you.
