Gears, Bearings, and Cams
13-1 Introduction
This chapter explains how to draw and design with gears and bearings. The chapter does not discuss how to design specific gears and bearings; instead, it covers how to design by using existing parts selected from manufacturers’ catalogs. Various gear terms are defined, and design applications are demonstrated.
This chapter also discusses how to design and draw a cam according to a displacement diagram. Different types of follower motion are explained, as are different types of followers.
