List of Abbreviations

AAT:
Adoption acceleration team. A centralized team of experts (often sitting under the CIO) that drives strategic, scaled adoption of process orchestration across the enterprise.
AI:
Artificial intelligence. For the sake of simplicity, in this book we use this as an umbrella term encompassing generative AI, large language models, and related concepts.
BPMN:
Business Process Model and Notation. An ISO-standardized modeling language that can express workflows visually, but is also executable. It supports complex workflow patterns and is understandable by both business users and technical teams.
CEO:
Chief executive officer. The top executive responsible for the overall direction and success of the organization.
CFO:
Chief financial officer. The executive overseeing financial planning, reporting, and the organization’s fiscal health.
CIO:
Chief information officer. The executive managing the company’s IT strategy and ensuring technology supports business goals. The CIO ensures that technology aligns with business goals, improves operational efficiency, and fosters innovation.
CoE:
Center of excellence. In general, a central team that enables and supports the rest of the organization with a specific methodology or technology. In the context of enterprise process orchestration, the AAT and POG are the most relevant CoEs.
COO:
Chief operating officer. The executive responsible for managing day-to-day operations and process optimization. The COO ensures seamless ...
