Project Mendocino applications

Project Mendocino provides applications that support four primary business processes (see Figure 9-3) through data accessible on the desktop. They include:

Time management

The Outlook calendar can be used for recording time on projects, cost centers, and other accounting objects into the SAP CATS, streamlining time entry while ensuring time-reporting compliance.

Budget monitoring

Reports from mySAP ERP can be scheduled for delivery in the Outlook inbox and users can work with them online or offline.

Leave management

Leave requests can be entered as calendar items, and approvals can be routed automatically based on enterprise-defined processes.

Organization management

Up-to-date information about employees, open positions, and organizational structures is integrated from SAP software into the Outlook contacts area and Microsoft Office documents.

Project Mendocino and its associated applications do not replace other UI strategies or solutions that SAP has in place already. Rather, access to these other UIs, most dominantly
