At the moment, our earth is undergoing unprecedented warming due to human activity, primarily from burning of fossil fuels to produce energy. The increasing concentration of greenhouse gases that raise terrestrial temperatures could dramatically alter our planet for the worse by leading to rising sea levels that flood coastal cities, increased desertification, death of coral reefs from ocean acidification, more wildfires, new disease pandemics, and creating more intense hurricanes that could threaten coastal areas.
