Chapter 2. Implement virtual machines
Virtual machines are one of the key compute options for deploying workloads in Microsoft Azure. Virtual machines can provide the on-ramp for migrating workloads from on-premises (or other cloud providers) to Azure because they are usually the most compatible with existing solutions. The flexibility of virtual machines makes them a key scenario for many workloads. For example, you have a choice of server operating systems, with various versions of Windows and Linux distributions supported. Azure virtual machines also provide you full control over the operating system, along with advanced configuration options for networking and storage.
