Synopsis

Use N to convert a value to a number. If the specified value is a date, it is converted to the serial number that represents the date. The logical value TRUE is converted to 1 and FALSE is converted to 0. All error values are converted to their corresponding value as outlined in Table 20-1.

Example

Figure 20-4 illustrates how to use N to find the corresponding number for a value. The example illustrates how dates and times are converted to the corresponding serial number. The example also uses TYPE to determine the type of value contained in each cell in column A.
