I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 4. Basic Replication
This chapter provides a good understanding of basic GoldenGate replication, including an example of replicating a sample human resources schema. You learn how to set up, start, and verify the basic replication configuration, including the initial data-load process. You see examples in both Oracle Database on Linux and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 on Windows, but keep in mind that most of the same GoldenGate commands and concepts apply to all of the supported platforms. The chapter points out where a specific command or task applies only to an Oracle database or only to a SQL Server database.
