Individual Character and The Blind Side
In The Blind Side, Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock plays Leigh Anne Tuohy, a strong-willed southern woman. She reaches out to help an African-American high school student with no stable home, a history of academic underachievement, and raw athletic talent.
The movie is based on real-life events. It shows how Tuohy first met Michael Oher on a cold, rainy night following a school play. The story quickly moves to the point where she persuaded her family to take him in and eventually become his legal guardians.
Oher thrives with Tuohy and her family, going on to become a standout high school and college football player. He was eventually picked in the first round of the National Football League draft by the Baltimore Ravens.
