Chapter 9. Be Transparent

A transparent object is one that allows light to pass through so that others behind it can be seen. By analogy, a transparent company is one that allows stakeholders to see right through it—the company is visible for all to see; it operates in the bright light of day. Figure 9-1 shows the new corporate headquarters of ING Group, the Dutch financial services giant with a growing global presence. Its see-through architecture suggests subliminally and metaphorically that the financial services giant intends to be transparent to its stakeholders.
