Assessing a project in five minutes

With the skills you have developed in Chapters 18, you now know how to plan and execute any project in the shortest possible time. This chapter and the next one extend your skills by giving you further techniques that you can use to save time on projects. This chapter shows you how to assess a project very quickly. You can use it in situations like the following:

  • You are asked to take over a project that is already running.
  • You are asked to assess a project.
  • Somebody who reports to you is running a project – how do you know whether the project is in good shape?
  • A sub-contractor does a presentation of their project plan. How do you know whether it is a good plan or not?
